Born in Nicosia in 1968, she studied at 20 Temmuz Lisesi and the Turkish Teacher Training College. In 2001, she completed a master's degree in Educational Supervision, Administration and Planning at Near East University. Her first poetry collection, İçimdeki Rüya , was published in 1988.

Alongside her poetry for adults, an engagement with children's language and imagination holds a distinctive place in her work. Şiirlerle Büyüsün Çocuklar reached listeners and viewers as well as readers through broadcasts sharing the book's title.

In a 2013 interview with Eastern Mediterranean University, she explained her wish to help adults see the world from children's perspectives. The exhibition Gözleri Şiir Çocuk , which opened that year, expressed this idea in another form, bringing together photographs, her own verse and poems written by children.

In her 2023 interview with Meltem Hasipoğlu, she emphasised poetry's power to connect people and offer healing. She advocated teaching poetry from primary school onwards. In university talks, she has also explored a love of one's mother tongue, effective communication and the relationship between literature and cultural values.

She was among the founders of KIBATEK, the Osman Türkay Culture and Arts Foundation and the Toprak Cinema Association, and contributed to Film Days in Famagusta. Projects bringing her poetry together with music, photography and education have taken her work beyond the page.

She served as Director of the TRNC Department of Culture from April 2022 to June 2026. During this period, she took part in joint cultural events with libraries, universities and artists. Her contribution to children's literature was recognised in 2025 with a Turkic World Literature Award presented in Ankara.
